Description

London has the sculptures of the Parthenon,  Berlin has the portrait of Egyptian Queen Nefertiti, and Paris owns the famous Zodiac Ceiling from an Egyptian Temple of Dendur—all of these priceless treasures the result of imperial looting, often unacknowledged by the museums that now display them.  Today’s talk will tell some of the stories of art theft in bygone eras but also highlight some recent cases where national treasures are now being returned to their rightful owners.
