Beginning in the early 1950s, Washington, DC, emerged as the urban center for bluegrass music in the United States. By the early 1980s, it was among the most popular genres one could hear, both live and on the radio, in and around our area. Using video and audio examples, Lornell will discuss how and why bluegrass became such a phenomenon in the DMV.
