By 2025, an estimated 7.1 million people aged 65 and older will be living with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia. These numbers represent our family members, friends, and neighbors. We are very fortunate in Montgomery County to have a Dementia Friends program within the Area Agency on Aging. A certified volunteer from this program will present a session in which you’ll learn about Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia, how to recognize the signs of dementia, tips for communicating and interacting with a person who has dementia and ways to create a dementia-friendly physical space.
