Description
Art Deco architecture can be found throughout the District in a variety of building types, including apartments, commercial and Federal buildings, as well as theaters, transportation facilities and more. Steve will give an illustrated talk covering the artistic movements that contributed to the formation of Art Deco; look at national and international examples to help build a better understanding of the style; examine several well-known and even some lesser-known examples of Art Deco buildings in the area; and touch on the value of historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
