Description

Dorothy Fields, daughter of noted vaudevillian Lew Fields and sister of writer Herbert Fields, was one of few women in the male-dominated Broadway world. From the late 1920’s into the 1970’s, she created lyrics to over 400 songs for both Broadway and film, and was highly esteemed as a Broadway musical script writer.  Dorothy Fields worked with the best, collaborating with Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern and Cy Coleman.  In honor of Women’s History Month, Julie Kurzava presents highlights of her life and work.
