Description

Did you know that Saharan dust storms have a big impact on soil, water, and human health in the Americas? Every year, many tons of dust travel from Africa to the Americas carrying a slew of creatures and minerals. Those particles fertilize marine plankton in the Atlantic, as well as the canopy of trees in the Amazon rainforest. Dust storms are also vectors for pathogens in their trajectory.

This program is in partnership with and hosted by the Audubon Naturalist Society.
