Description

Science and engineering played a crucial role in fighting World War II, which in turn led to remarkable advances involving radar, aircraft and rockets, computers, operations research, and of course the atomic bomb. These two class sessions will show how science emerged from universities to win the war and create technologies that changed the world.  They will highlight some of the great scientists involved in the war, including Einstein, Richard Feynman, John von Neumann, Alan Turing, Freeman Dyson and Werner von Braun.
