Description
(See other classes in this series: #113, 173, 221.) Jazz was born in New Orleans at the dawn of the 20th century. But by the early 1920’s, most of the great early pioneers of this music were now making Chicago their base of operations. This was part and parcel of the “Great Migration” of southern blacks to the northern cities. What happened to this music when it got to the Windy City? Vintage recordings, video clips, and live performances from your instructor will keep this class swinging!
