Description
This is mostly a driving tour of Sugarloaf Mountain on the western edge of Montgomery County (with some easy walking as well). We will stop at several overlooks and take in the views of early fall foliage and distant sites, then stop at the base of the mountain for a .5-mile walk on level terrain. Optional “extras” include a picnic or longer hike on your own (trail maps provided for adventurous participants who may want to hike to the summit of the mountain). Nearby Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard offers afternoon wine tastings for a charge. Bring binoculars if you wish. The class fee includes a donation to the foundation that maintains Sugarloaf Mountain. Rain date: October 19.
Participants are responsible for their own transportation and are encouraged to carpool. Sugarloaf Mountain is located at 7901 Comus Road, Dickerson, MD 20842.
