Description

Set in the segregated 60’s in Baltimore, MD, Hairspray was written by a hometown hero, John Waters. Tracy Turnblad, an overweight teenager who loves to dance tries to integrate the Corny Collins TV Bandstand show. Her dancing exuberance and her fight for equality are captured in a nonstop rock and roll score that keeps us dancing. With a bevy of comic characters and its multicultural cast, this show was written as a comedy, but has more than music as its message.
