Description

Teresa of Avila and Edith Stein, separated by four centuries, have a lot in common: Both are canonized saints of the Catholic Church, both have a Jewish background that put their lives in mortal danger, both advocated strong feminist principles. Discover details about the ancestry of these two women and their relationship to their historical circumstances. This course provides a new perspective on the political and moral questions they contended with. We will compare them to some of their contemporaries and will reflect on the importance of women’s words for “the creation of feminist consciousness” through the centuries.
