Description
For a relatively brief period in the 9th, 10th and 11th centuries a group of intrepid seafarers burst forth from their homeland in Scandinavia and raided and traded with areas as widespread as North America, Iceland, England, Ireland, Russia, France, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. The Vikings were ferociously cruel warriors, but they also had a strong cultural impact on the areas they conquered.
