Description
On July 20, 1969, a team of American astronauts met the goal set by President Kennedy in 1969 to land on the moon by 1970 and safely return to earth. This talk will describe the careers of the Apollo astronauts, from those who died in a launch rehearsal in 1967 to the last men who walked (and rode) on the moon in 1972. The class will present a chance to both review background of this chapter of the manned space program and to learn about careers of the astronauts, including the years after their space flights. The class will present many clips of the astronauts, including interviews they gave after their flights.
