Description

Presented by Planet Word, The Museum where Words come to Life, in this session participants consider how words are themselves cultural artifacts. Participants also participate in quick linguistic puzzles and analyze a spoken-word piece by Professor Jamila Lysicott, presented in the Words Matter gallery at Planet Word. The session will provide opportunities for participants to find direct connections between the concepts of dialect, personal expression, and linguistic bias and their own lives, teaching practices, and communities. Project Zero Thinking Routines will be used to map learning, explore complexity, and practice empathy throughout the program.

**This course is only offered virtually and is for new, active or on-break Oasis Tutors.
