Description
This presentation addresses how the Capitol precinct has grown in size and complexity since 1793, when the design was first selected by President George Washington. The book discusses the flow of history, and the continuity provided through the Architects’ stewardship. The book also discusses the security threats the Architects have had to address. It places the 2021 events on Capitol Hill to overturn election results in a longer time perspective, going back to 1861, when Lincoln was elected and there were fears that the Virginia militia would attack the Capitol to stop the counting.
