Description

What motivates people to deny scientific information, particularly on topics with such  immediate urgency as COVID-19? What damage can misinformation do to people's understanding of the science, and even on their attitudes and behavior? And most importantly, what can we do about it? George Mason University researcher John Cook researches how critical thinking can provide a "universal vaccine" against misinformation. He also puts this research into practice, using cartoons, humor, and online videos to explain the logical fallacies found in science misinformation.  Dr. Cook will be interviewed by Walter Staveloz, Oasis Program Committee member and Senior Advisor for Global Challenges at the Association of Science-Technology Centers
