Description

In the late 1990s, Bruce Adams was trying to figure out how to raise money to improve youth baseball and softball fields. Join Bruce as he tells the story of one of the region’s most beloved summertime activities. The Washington Post’s Marc Fisher calls Bethesda Big Train baseball at Shirley Povich Field “the ultimate small-town fantasy.” Bruce tells the rollercoaster story of building and sustaining a community jewel over a quarter of a century. After the talk, Bruce will take you on a ballpark tour. Take a photograph with two bronzed icons of Washington sports – Shirley Povich and Walter Johnson.  Bring lunch and a drink for an informal picnic with Bruce in the Pavilion after the presentation.

Participants are responsible for their own transportation.  Shirley Povich Field is located at 10600 Westlake Dr, Rockville, MD 20852.

Limit: 30.
