Description

For more than 50 years, Julliard-trained composer Peter Schickele assumed the mantle of P.D.Q. Bach, a forgotten and musically incompetent son of the great Johann Sebastian Bach. Both onstage and on many records, Schickele created wonderful parodies of classical music. The jokes Schickele created drew widely on classical music and satirized musicology involving composers from Bach’s time. The class will offer the chance to learn about Schickele’s remarkable career, to hear some of his pieces, and to appreciate humor in music.
