Description

The Book of Judith is a story about the heroic action of a woman saving her people from a cruel oppressor. This book is part of the Apocrypha, which means that it is not part of the canon of the Hebrew Bible. It is included as part of the Catholic Bible. We will study the story and compare it to a “similar” story, the Book of Esther, and try to “guess” why Esther made it into the canon while Judith did not. Students will need to have the text of the Book of Judith available to them. The book is included in every Catholic Bible and some Protestant Bibles. It is also available online.
