Tom Hanks’ film Greyhound finds him fighting U-boats in the North Atlantic in early 1942 while in command of an escort group of Canadian, British and Polish warships. This talk will explain how a lone American destroyer and an inexperienced USN officer found themselves in that situation so early in the war.
