Summer is just around the corner!  Join us to kick off the new term with a bang!  First, we'll get together for a meet-and-greet with Oasis friends and instructors, followed by a free live concert featuring Oasis favorites and music legends Daryl Davis and Seth Kibel. Reverb is an award-winning a cappella vocal group that sings soul, folk and Gospel songs. In this live performance, Reverb will sing into spring with a selection of soul and pop classics and a few original songs as well.  Sing along and dance if you like! Since its birth in 1991, Reverb has performed along the East Coast and has toured East and Southern Africa, the Persian Gulf and the Caribbean. Reverb is best known as an old-school harmony group led by soloists -- each with his own distinct individual style.  This event is made possible by Washington Performing Arts.

Established in 1983, Manna Food Center distributes approximately 12,000 pounds of food daily.  More than just a food bank, Manna is a center of distribution and nutrition education. For this volunteer event, participants will go to Manna’s warehouse and help check expiration dates and sort non-perishable food items into designated bins.  Volunteers may also be asked to help with sorting/bagging bread or meat or other tasks as needed.  The tasks involve bending, reaching, and standing. Participants provide their own transportation and will meet at the Manna warehouse at 9311 Gaither Road, Gaithersburg, MD  20877.  Volunteers may park in the lot directly in front of Manna. Yet, over the past half-century, several historians have argued that many of its innocuous-sounding articles offered a dramatic giveaway to slaveholders. This program will help you determine where the truth lies. We’ll follow the framers of the federal Constitution into their closed-door convention in Philadelphia in 1787 to see how northern delegates and southern delegates wrangled over whether or not slavery could continue to thrive in a nation founded on the principles of liberty and equality.

This presentation will examine their extraordinary achievements, beginning with their work together on Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows and their creation of the 2000 Year Old Man, to their individual accomplishments as writers, directors, and performers.
