During this full-day training you will engage with fellow new tutors and get a glimpse of what tutoring looks like in action. Together with your peers you will participate in activities focused on teaching and building literacy skills with children. You will also explore our Oasis Resource room and discuss what materials are available for use with tutoring. This course is only for new Oasis Tutors who have been invited to register and is only offered in-person (not virtual) Lunch will be provided.

You asked for it and we're delivering....  how to engage your student(s) and maintain attention to the task. This session, led by Linda Shiffman will focus on various strategies to engage students during tutoring sessions and help them maintain attention. Some of the strategies to be discussed include removing distractions, providing short activity breaks, breaking tasks into smaller segments, and using cues to redirect attention.  Opportunities will be provided to practice these strategies. Due to the interactive nature of this program, it will only be offered in-person at Oasis (not virtually). This session is for active or active on-break Oasis tutors only. Registration is required.
